Millcreek became a city only in 2016, but the housing is much older than that: rows of post-war single-stories and split-levels laid out in the 1950s and 60s, on regular lots, many still with their original kitchens and bathrooms. East Millcreek and Canyon Rim climb toward the mountains and the houses grow with the elevation — bigger footprints, more bathrooms, finished basements that need counting when you book. Down along 3300 South and around Millcreek Common the picture has changed fast, with townhomes and apartments going up on what used to be strip commercial. Those are compact, hard-floored and quick.

Millcreek Canyon is the neighborhood's front door and dogs are a large part of life here — the canyon is one of the few in the valley that allows them off-leash on alternating days. Hair, paws and the trail dirt that comes back down with them are a normal part of the job; add the pet option when you book so the visit is planned around it.
